NOVENA TO ST. FAUSTINA

Novena to St. Faustina honors the Polish nun and mystic chosen by Christ to spread devotion to Divine Mercy. This devotion recalls her trust in Jesus and encourages hearts to rely completely on His boundless love and compassion.

Nine days of prayer begin on September 26, leading to her feast on October 5.

DAY 1

Opening Prayer:
(Pray each day before the daily intention)
O Jesus, who filled St. Faustina with profound veneration for Your boundless Mercy, grant me through her intercession and example the grace to grow in childlike trust in You and to show mercy toward others. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Daily Intention (Day 1):
Today, let us pray for the grace to trust Jesus in all circumstances, as St. Faustina did — even in suffering, darkness, and uncertainty. May her example inspire hearts weighed down by fear or doubt to place their confidence in Divine Mercy.
Prayer to St. Faustina:
St. Faustina, you trusted Jesus even when everything seemed lost and confusing. Teach us to trust as you did — with humility, surrender, and love. Intercede for us, that our hearts may be free from fear and full of peace, knowing that Jesus is with us in all things. Help us to say with you: “Jesus, I trust in You.”
Closing Prayer (from the Diary of St. Faustina):
“O My Jesus, I want to live in the present moment, to live as if this were the last day of my life. I want to use every moment scrupulously for the greater glory of God. I want to live with the purest of intentions and do everything out of love for You.” (Diary, 1183)

Jesus, I trust in You.
(Optional: Conclude with the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.)

DAY 2

Opening Prayer:
(Pray each day before the daily intention)

O Jesus, who filled St. Faustina with profound veneration for Your boundless Mercy, grant me through her intercession and example the grace to grow in childlike trust in You and to show mercy toward others. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Daily Intention (Day 2):

Today, let us ask for the grace to practice mercy in our daily lives — through our words, actions, and prayers. May we, like St. Faustina, be living reflections of God’s mercy to those who are wounded, forgotten, or lost.

Prayer to St. Faustina:

St. Faustina, you were the Apostle of Mercy, always ready to forgive, to console, and to intercede for souls. Teach us to live mercy in simple acts of kindness, in offering forgiveness freely, and in praying for those most in need of God’s love. Obtain for us the grace to be merciful, just as our Heavenly Father is merciful.

Closing Prayer (from the Diary of St. Faustina):

“Help me, O Lord, that my heart may be merciful… May Your mercy, O Lord, rest upon me.” (Diary, 163)

Jesus, I trust in You.

(Optional: Conclude with the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.)

DAY 3

Opening Prayer:
(Pray each day before the daily intention)

O Jesus, who filled St. Faustina with profound veneration for Your boundless Mercy, grant me through her intercession and example the grace to grow in childlike trust in You and to show mercy toward others. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Daily Intention (Day 3):

Today, let us pray for a deeper love and reverence for the Holy Eucharist, as St. Faustina had. May our hearts burn with longing for Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and be transformed by His Presence.

Prayer to St. Faustina:

St. Faustina, you found strength, peace, and consolation in the Eucharist. Your soul lived in adoration before the tabernacle, drawing grace for yourself and the whole world. Pray for us, that we may never take this great Gift for granted, and that we may hunger for Jesus in Holy Communion more deeply each day.

Closing Prayer (from the Diary of St. Faustina):

“O Living Host, my only strength, fountain of love and mercy, embrace the whole world and fortify faint souls.” (Diary, 223)

Jesus, I trust in You.

(Optional: Conclude with the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.)

DAY 4

Opening Prayer:
(Pray each day before the daily intention)

O Jesus, who filled St. Faustina with profound veneration for Your boundless Mercy, grant me through her intercession and example the grace to grow in childlike trust in You and to show mercy toward others. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Daily Intention (Day 4):

Today, let us pray for the grace to unite our sufferings with Christ, as St. Faustina did. May all pain, whether physical, emotional, or spiritual, be transformed into a means of intercession, healing, and love.

Prayer to St. Faustina:

St. Faustina, your life was marked by hidden suffering, yet you bore every trial with trust and surrender. You offered your pain for the salvation of souls and the conversion of sinners. Teach us to suffer with purpose, in union with Jesus, and to never waste a moment of pain.

May we learn, like you, that suffering borne with love becomes a powerful prayer.

Closing Prayer (from the Diary of St. Faustina):

“Suffering is a great grace; through suffering the soul becomes like the Savior; in suffering love becomes crystallized.” (Diary, 57)

Jesus, I trust in You.

(Optional: Conclude with the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.)

DAY 5

Opening Prayer:
(Pray each day before the daily intention)

O Jesus, who filled St. Faustina with profound veneration for Your boundless Mercy, grant me through her intercession and example the grace to grow in childlike trust in You and to show mercy toward others. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Daily Intention (Day 5):

Today, let us pray for the conversion of sinners—especially those most hardened or most in danger of despair. May St. Faustina’s mission to bring souls back to God through prayer and sacrifice inspire us to do the same with love and mercy.

Prayer to St. Faustina:

St. Faustina, you burned with love for souls and grieved deeply over those who did not know God’s mercy. You offered your life as a sacrifice for sinners and trusted in the power of Divine Mercy to reach even the most lost. Pray for us, that our hearts may be moved to intercede for others and that we may never grow weary of praying for conversion.

Closing Prayer (from the Diary of St. Faustina):

“I have learned that the greatest obstacles to holiness are discouragement and an exaggerated anxiety. These deprive the soul of the power to practice virtue.” (Diary, 1488)

Jesus, I trust in You.

(Optional: Conclude with the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.)

DAY 6

Opening Prayer:
(Pray each day before the daily intention)

O Jesus, who filled St. Faustina with profound veneration for Your boundless Mercy, grant me through her intercession and example the grace to grow in childlike trust in You and to show mercy toward others. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Daily Intention (Day 6):

Today, let us pray for the grace to grow in true humility and simplicity of heart. May we, like St. Faustina, desire to become small in the eyes of the world so we may be great in the eyes of God.

Prayer to St. Faustina:

St. Faustina, you lived hidden in the convent, performing small tasks with great love. You did not seek attention or praise but desired only to please Jesus. Teach us to follow your example—to embrace the hidden life, to serve quietly, and to accept correction humbly. Help us see that humility is the foundation of holiness.

Closing Prayer (from the Diary of St. Faustina):

“True greatness of the soul is in loving God and in humility.” (Diary, 427)

Daily Intention (Day 7):

Today, let us pray for a deeper love for the Blessed Virgin Mary, whom St. Faustina called her “Mother of Mercy.” May Mary guide us ever closer to the Heart of her Son and help us to live lives of purity, obedience, and trust.

Prayer to St. Faustina:

St. Faustina, you turned to Mary in times of struggle and joy, calling upon her protection and help. You trusted her guidance and imitated her virtues. Teach us to love Our Lady as you did, to seek her intercession with confidence, and to rely on her motherly care in every need.

Closing Prayer (from the Diary of St. Faustina):

“O sweet Mother of God, I model my life on You; You are for me the bright dawn; in You I lose myself enraptured.” (Diary, 1232)

Today, let us pray for the Holy Catholic Church and for all priests. May the Church be a radiant vessel of Divine Mercy, and may all those called to serve as spiritual shepherds be strengthened, purified, and made holy through the grace of God.

Prayer to St. Faustina:

St. Faustina, your love for the Church was deep and sincere. You offered prayers and sacrifices for priests and religious, knowing the importance of their mission. Intercede for our priests, that they may be faithful, holy, and courageous. Pray that the Church may be united in truth and love, and be a beacon of mercy to the world.

Closing Prayer (from the Diary of St. Faustina):

“O my Jesus, I beg You on behalf of the whole Church: grant it love and the light of Your Spirit. Give power to the words of priests so that hardened hearts might be brought to repentance.” (Diary, 1052)

Today, let us pray for the grace to become apostles of Divine Mercy — to share the message of God's infinite love and forgiveness with the world. May the life and mission of St. Faustina inspire us to be bold in proclaiming that God’s Mercy is for every soul, especially the most broken and lost.

Prayer to St. Faustina:

St. Faustina, you gave your life so the world would know the infinite mercy of God. Through your Diary and your witness, countless souls have come to trust in Jesus. Pray for us, that we may not be afraid to speak of His mercy, to live it boldly, and to draw others to His Heart. May our lives echo your words: “Jesus, I trust in You.”
