St. Cecilia

The St. Cecilia Novena honors the virgin and martyr who is celebrated as the patroness of sacred music. Renowned for her purity, courage, and joyful song of praise even in suffering, St. Cecilia’s life reflects unwavering devotion to Christ. This devotion seeks her intercession for purity of heart, joy in worship, and the grace to glorify God through every act of love and sacrifice.

Nine days of prayer begin on November 13, leading to her feast on November 22.

DAY 1

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Eternal God, you gave us the gift of St. Cecilia, a powerful protector and patron of music. We strive to pass our days faithfully and innocently like holy St. Cecilia so that we may come to Heaven where we may praise You in concert with her.

God the Father of Heaven,

Have mercy on us.

God the Son, Redeemer of the world,

Have mercy on us.

St. Cecilia, your life and faith moved the hearts of pagans and brought them into the true Church. Pray for us!

We praise you, O Virgin St. Cecilia, who gave your blood for the defense and faith of Jesus Christ. We seek your prayers for… (Mention your intentions here…).

St. Cecilia, Jesus filled your heart with pure and heroic love. He permitted your body to remain incorrupt through these many centuries and willed that your memory be praised by the Church at Holy Day Masses. We sincerely ask you to intercede for us. Amen.

Most holy St. Jude – apostle, martyr and friend of Jesus, today I ask that you pray for me and my intentions!

You are the patron of the impossible. Pray for me and my intentions! O St. Jude, pray that God’s grace and mercy will cover my intentions. Pray for the impossible if it is God’s will.

Pray that I may have the grace to accept God’s holy will even if it is painful and difficult for me.

St. Jude, you loved our Lord, help me to love Him more.

O St. Jude, pray for me that I may grow in faith, hope and love and in the grace of Jesus Christ. Pray for these intentions, but most of all pray that I may join you in heaven with God for all eternity.

We praise you, O Virgin St. Cecilia, who gave your blood for the defense and faith of Jesus Christ. We seek your prayers for… (Mention your intentions here…).

St. Cecilia, to sing is to pray twice, therefore, we sing praises from our hearts and our tongues as we offer double prayer sent to heaven to praise God. While we try with song to praise God twice, we ask you to help us be united closely to Jesus.
